About Volo TV
Volo TV is the worlds first on demand ITES (in-train entertainment system) fitted to a fleet of trains and brings to the modern train traveller the same journey experience enjoyed by premium class air travellers for decades. It has been devised, designed and created by Volo TV & Media Limited, an Edinburgh based company.
Volo's partner for the launch of Volo TV is First Great Western (FGW). Since November 2009, Volo TV has been fitted into standard class Coach D of every First Great Western HST unit. Travellers on all FGW routes to Bristol, South Wales and the South West of England can now enjoy on-demand entertainment at their seat. Volo TV has been successfully piloted with FGW before launch. A trial coach ran in normal service for almost a year to ensure that there were no negative effects on normal operations and to gather feedback from users of the system. Following on from that successful pilot, FGW has been offering Volo TV to customers on the Riviera Night Sleeper service to and from Penzance. Passengers have been delighted with the service and FGW have seen occupancy rates in their sleeper cabins increase.
Volo TV offers a world of high quality entertainment and up to date news. Customers navigate easy to use, touch screen menus to choose from world class comedy, drama and features or to keep themselves up to date with the latest news via an RSS feed. There is also a real time train locator feature so that passengers can follow their journey progress on the screen.
Volo TV & Media Limited is a private limited company based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
